Phil Steck serves in the Albany County legislature and as the chairman of the Colonie Democratic Party. A well-known attorney with a prominent Albany law firm, Cooper Erving & Savage, he has a pretty impressive resume.
He grew up in Colonie and got great grades at some college in Boston (okay, okay, it was Harvard). Then he did pretty darn well at a darn good law school.
And from his firm website, it looks like he's handled some substantial cases. Ya gotta respect a litigator. He seems to handle a lot of employment law. The site says he handles criminal defense too. I've been in a lot of criminal courts and I'm not sure I've ever seen him.
I do DWI, speeding tickets, and other criminal defense. So I oughtta know. But I did see him once at a seminar on federal criminal defense. So maybe he's in federal court more. And he's got that prosecutor background too. Okay, he's probably good at that too. What isn't he good at?
